Dear Parents and Friends of Stock,

What an amazing united effort all of you have shown Governor Quinn, our local politicians and the President and CEO of the Chicago Board of Education.  Your voices were heard!  You collected well over 7,500 signatures supporting our school of 300 preschoolers.  I made several trips to CPS and our local politicians to deliver all of the personal notes and form letters that you took the time to write.  I spoke to media, both print and television, and pursued an innumerous amount of leads that you furnished. This effort has been an outstanding tribute to Stock School and the staff that works with our children every day.

Today, I was informed that the Stock’s Preschool for All program was fully funded.  This outcome is truly because of the tireless effort you all put forth on behalf of our amazing school.  Mr. Huberman and others at the board of education directed revenue received from the Pension Relief bill signed by Governor Quinn back toward Early Childhood education.  They also obtained further funding to cover the shortfall that annual raises and other expenses have caused.

Now it is time to say Thank You!  Please join me and other Stock parents on a bus to the Chicago Public School board meeting on Wednesday, April 28th.  The bus, donated by Alderman Doherty and State Representative McAuliffe, will be available to board in front of Stock at 9:00 a.m.  The bus is scheduled for departure at 9:15 a.m.  If you are unable to find day care, children that are closely monitored are permitted to attend.  Seats on the bus will be given on a first come first served basis.  We will assemble at 125 S. Clark from 10:30a.m. - 12:30 p.m., for the public participation portion of the meeting.

As the Local School Council chairperson,  I will speak for the allotted two minutes.  I feel it is so important that the CPS community continue to understand the passion of the Stock community in case this situation ever arises again.  We need to say thank you.  We need to show our support.  We need to fill the bus!

I look forward to seeing you all Wednesday morning for a great day of thanks!

Thank you.
